I’m Kyle, the founder of PDX Urban Gardens, and my work is rooted in a deep passion for ecology education, native wildlife conservation, and community-driven land stewardship. With years of experience in permaculture, food forestry, and urban habitat restoration, I have developed the belief that landscapes should do more than just take up space—they should provide food, habitat, and a sense of connection to the land.

My background in native plant ecology, herbalism, melilitology [study of native bees], and civic engagement has shaped my approach to landscaping—one that prioritizes biodiversity, soil health, and long-term stewardship. I draw from Indigenous ecological knowledge, agroecology, and urban planning principles to design spaces that don’t just look good, but connect with the broader ecosystems.

My goal is to replace extractive, high-maintenance deadscapes [biodiversity deadzones] with regenerative, hubs of biodiversity and food.

Through PDX Urban Gardens, I want to help reshape the way we think about our yards and public spaces. I envision a future where edible landscapes replace sterile lawns, pollinators flourish in every neighborhood, and people feel deeply connected to the ecosystems around them. Thank you for your support in this making this vision reality.
