Common rush is a versatile Pacific Northwest native that thrives in wet soils while tolerating surprisingly dry conditions once established. Its upright, evergreen stems provide strong vertical texture and year-round structure. It is especially valuable in rain gardens and water-wise landscapes because it can handle both seasonal flooding and summer drying.

Size at maturity: 1–3' tall, 1–3' wide
Light: Full sun to part shade
Water: Moist to wet; tolerates seasonal dryness once established
Bloom time: June–August
Wildlife: Provides habitat and cover for insects and small wildlife
