Sword Fern
Polystichum munitum
One of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic evergreen ferns. Its deep green, leathery fronds form handsome clumps that provide year-round structure and shelter for wildlife. A classic woodland plant, sword fern thrives beneath trees and in shady gardens where many other plants struggle. Its durable foliage also makes an excellent backdrop for woodland perennials and native groundcovers.

Light: Part shade to full shade
Water: Medium moisture; prefers consistent moisture but tolerates some summer dryness once established
